I'm a Little Scared...

I'm a little scared because this morning I'm running with a friend who is going to kick my not-so-little tail. :)
I'll let you know how it goes, but I won't lie, all morning I've had this sense of both anticipation (it'll be nice to have someone to run with for a change) and dread (this is gonna really hurt).

Just to let you know what I've done so far this week....

Monday: Rest Day

Tuesday: 4 miles in 39:48.45
Mile 1: 10:46
Mile 2: 9:49
Mile 3: 9:42
Mile 4: 9:32

Wednesday: 5 miles in 46:50.00
Mile 1: 10.13
Mile 2: 9:02
Mile 3: 9:06
Mile 4: 9:02
Mile 5: 9:24
I think these were my fastest times yet!! However, last night I felt like every muscle in my lower back down was screaming. Sigh. My awesome husband worked on me a little bit. His expertise and experience in the realm of running and pain is coming in handy. He knew right where to massage and man did it hurt! This morning my knees and ankles are still angry...let's just hope I can keep up with my girl Angie. She's a real runner and I'm the newbie. This should be good and humbling, folks. :)

My goal for this week is another 20. I don't think I'm quite ready for a 25. Maybe next week, depending on how my knees are holding up.

What are you guys up to this week? I wanna hear from you! :)

  3. I got out this morning and ran with my dog. Didn't go fast. I run on a trail and it was so soggy that I got stuck a few places. Still I ran/jogged 3km and walked/sprinted 1.5km. Sorry I don't know miles. I am going to be sore tomorrow, but I have another chance to go running tomorrow again and I will try to take advantage of it then.
Hope your run today went well.

  4. I just finished up week 4 of the C25K program tonight and can't wait to start week 5! I have been dreading the 20 minute run that is coming up b/c I AM NOT A RUNNER...but tonight I finally got to the point that other runners said I would get to...the point in the run where it became a little easier and i felt like I could keep going. I went much further than I was supposed to go according to the program and it felt great...never thought I would say that! Anyways, this next coming week, I am going to be finishing up week 5 of the program. Great times on your runs this week by the way!

  5. Hi Cristan...
I saw your blog via Cynthia's post on fb. (I'm Dan's cousin in case you can't figure it out :).
Just want to say the pics of you guys are great! You look fabulous but I can certainly understand wanting to get more fit. I used to run - and go to the gym - and while I briefly started up again after having Liam, I am now back to doing hardly anything. So it's inspiring to read your blog! I've always wanted to run a marathon too...although I don't have any lofty time goals. ;)
    Good luck on your journey!
    Stephanie

  6. Hi Cristan! Found your blog from the UBP11 over at 5minutesformom.

I have to say, I love hearing about your running regime and how well you are doing. GOOD JOB! You are an inspiration to get me off my bootay. I had a little girl in January and am just starting my workout routine. Unfortunately, I am stuck to working out with Jillian Michaels DVD's, my Yoga DVD's and running in the school gym.

We live in rural Alaska and there is 13 ft. of snow on the ground, and 10 degrees (most days). Can't wait for our summer vacation to run on some trails :)

    Take Care,
    Tory
